PERSONALITY
Given who her father is, it's not a surprise that Mora is quite a snake. She makes everyday procedures infinitely more difficult, and because of it she gets a lot less routine fussing over her than some of the other horses do. She's groomed far less often, because she can be vicious even when standing tied. She only gets any sort of medication if it's absolutely necessary - no casual anti-inflammatories, no gut soothers, no supplements not included in her feed. And for the love of god, no needles unless she's actually colicking - and even then, it would be a decision as to whether it would make her more upset or if she should just be taken to the clinic. She scraped up her hind legs as a yearling, and was completely impossible to treat without risking the lives of the staff. When she kicks, she doesn't do it as a warning. She aims with intent, and that intent comes often when her hind legs are touched. So you might notice little white scars on her legs, only because she couldn't be superficially treated other than cold-hosing. It doesn't bother her, but those white hairs serve as a warning. Mora seems to tolerate women more than men, possibly because she sees it as less of a physical power struggle - however, aggressive women get the same treatment as men while a quiet man might be tolerated. It's pretty hard to tell, so they avoid introducing new people to her as much as possible. It doesn't make that much of a difference to her, but staff conditioned to her quirks and tricks are less likely to get hurt. Given how volatile she is, many are surprised to know that she's particularly sensitive to tone of voice. Coming at her with anger is incredibly dangerous, and even an argument outside of her stall can make her visibly agitated and upset. A calm demeanor is key to getting the most out of this incredibly promising and well-bred filly. But like other Augusto-lined horses, they have to be handled just so to get them to their potential.
For all of the fuss she has on the ground, Mora is surprisingly obedient under saddle. She has more of an issue with the people on the ground than she does with those on her back, likely because she seems to enjoy the work well enough. She enjoys working in company more than she does working solo, and gets an extra bit of fire when she's in a fight for the lead. Ironically given that, she's like her mother in that she hates having company to the gate before a race. She might like running alongside another horse, but she hates having one controlling her pace from that close to her. She bites badly, and kicked badly enough once to teach them it was best for her to warm up alone. For all of her faults, the speed this filly can exhibit makes it very much worth it.
LEG TYPE: FRONTRUNNER
Mora is antsy in the gate, and has bolted through the door before - luckily it only happened once, but it illustrates how incredibly on her toes she is when those bells ring. Mora hits straight to the lead, but is fairly casual about it. She doesn't mind sharing that lead as long as she has open ground in front of her. She doesn't seem bothered about anyone breathing on her heels from a deep confidence in her own position, and a calm jockey helps immensely. When she is given the go, her finishing speed is incredible. She can keep up with the best sprinters and hold off the long-winded routers. Like a whirlwind beast, Mora hits the wire without pause.
