PERSONALITY
This gorgeous colt with great sire power looks every bit the prodigal son. Rain doesn't care that his dam is unblooded and unproven, and he doesn't care that he's the first foal of his sire. He strides onto the track like it is his to command, not prancing but eating up the ground with a long, prowling walk. He's a looker, always an easy keeper with a dappled-out, shining coat, and his energy is infectious for a crowd. He's charismatic and seems to thrive with the attention and cheers of an audience. However, he's very much one to look at and not touch - wandering fingers will get snapped at, and Rain's been known to snap at a workmate if the other horse crowds him too closely. You can't let your guard down around him because he can be quite mean with his teeth, but at least he hasn't shown any real willingness to strike or kick. He's an incredibly competitive colt, apt to charge down his paddock fence line and trumpet challenges at any colt that walks by. He can be a nightmare in the saddling paddock for the same reason, since he's trying to challenge any colt that looks at him to a back alley fight right there and then. If you can get him to the track though, he completely enters his zone and seems to hit an energy-saving mode. He's a bundle of barely-restrained aggression and violence, and to his jockeys it can be a bit on the scary side when he's so quiet and focused - at least for a few minutes. When the gates open, all of that energy can finally be unleashed, and it's for that reason that he's not just tolerated, but kept an intact colt rather than a gelding. His explosive nature is the key to his success - you just have to survive it.
LEG TYPE: FRONTRUNNER
Rain loads into the gate with a deathly calm, leaning just lightly on the front of the gate while the others load. As the last horse is going into the gates, his jockey gathers the reins up and the colt gets on his toes - just in time for the bells to ring. The colt breaks quickly every time, and rockets to the front even if he has to bump and grind against the opposition to get there. He's fearless diving through gaps, in traffic, or along the rail, and that gives his jockey a lot of options to get the colt to freedom at the front of the field. The colt oddly is okay with another horse running near him on the lead as long as he's not crowded (at which point he won't shy, but instead pin his ears and flash his teeth). When it gets to be time to move, Rain comes on like a freight train, starting the churn of those long legs and draw away from the field in an early move before many of them start going. By the time they do start their move, Rain is already a few lengths ahead - and he's got the stamina to hold out until the finish.
