Looking at his parents, you would think that Al would be one heck of a horse to handle-- you'd be totally 100% correct. Stubborn, ill tempered, and incredibly smart. Al knows how to get his way, if he doesn't want to do something, he's going to do everything in his power to make sure you cannot make him do it. He's a unstoppable, stubborn, and a very temperamental horse, it makes him quite the animal. He likes to be treated with respect and if you don't treat him right he'll dump you, it's as simple as that. Being the spirited and antsy animal that he is, it wouldn't come as a shock that he was one of the hardest to break. Of course, compared to Gladiator he was a cake walk but Al doesn't much like being told what to do and he'll fight you on everything. Al takes himself very seriously, and he knows he's something special. He's sleek, elegant, and incredibly athletic. He catches eyes no matter where he is and he seems to demand the attention of the people around him. He's that big black horse that can silence a crowd with just a look. Everyone knows there is something about this horse that is going to change the face of racing forever.
Al is very much a push button horse, that is if it is on his terms. It's like this horse comes with a contract, everything he does there always seems to be a 'what do I get out of this?' kind of attitude. He's complicated, and it doesn't take much to tick him off, so you have one chance to do what he wants right or you're in trouble. Al is a ticking time bomb, and you never know when he's going to have an absolute meltdown. He's so much like his mother that it scares a lot of the staff, they thought they were done when Ally retired, they were wrong.
On the track he's just as stubborn and irritable, but in a totally different way. Instead of towards humans, it's towards other horses. He likes to stare down horses and knock them down to size when he thinks they are too cocky. He's feisty and irritable and if one horse rubs him the wrong way he will do whatever he can in his power to run that horse into the ground. It makes him a fierce competitor and it totally transforms him from a stuck up, snotty brat into a brilliant runner. Every stride Al takes is effortless, he wastes no energy in extra motions and always runs straight. He's a total natural when it comes to running and it wouldn't surprise anyone if he started his career off in a bit of a better place then his dam did.
LEG TYPE: VARIABLE; FRONTRUNNER/STALKER
This horse has got to be one of the strangest front runners you have ever seen. Al breaks on top and will go for the lead, but he refuses to be pushed around by anyone. If a preceeder tries to push him to go quicker he will not even budge, of anything he'll let the preceeder take over the lead. He doesn't do speed duels unless it's the homestretch, he can run as a pace stalker if he feels that it isn't worth his time nor energy to run at a front runner.
When given an easy lead the race is over as soon as the gates open with Al, he snags that lead and he'll never look back. Give him the lead and he'll put daylight between him and his competitors just as his dam did out on the track. He's far too smart and stubborn for his own good. Al knows when it's time to run at it with everything he has. His turn of foot is downright ruthless, he pulls away within just a few strides and he'll fight anyone right down to the wire, though he prefers to win by at least five lengths to make his point.
