TRUTH TELLER

Teddy is what some could call a camera hog. This colt absolutely loves the camera and has managed to teach himself to 'pose' whenever a camera is out. By posing we mean that he'll look in the direction of the camera, perk his ears and act as though he was born to do this. He has always been hard to spook, even as a foal. When we first acquired him as a weanling from the Y16 Spring Mixed Sale, this colt was a poster child in being led away from familiar faces and onto a strange trailer. He's a relatively quiet horse, and very quick to catch on in his training. Some of the staff have begun to speculate that Teddy hasn't realized that he's a horse quite yet. Due to his willingness, when he isn't training for the track, trainer John Murchison has taken the time to teach the horse a few tricks, such as bowing, and even counting to five. This colt is incredibly intelligent and his jockey has even mentioned that he feels as though the colt is planning out how to take the track whenever he's loaded up into the starting gates.
LEG TYPE: CLOSER
Truth Teller is a breeze to load, often acting much older than his years. He seems to ponder about the track while he's waiting for the race to start. When he's finally let loose, he hangs around the back of the pack in an attempt to survey all that's going on around him. After giving him a couple seconds to adjust to his competition he's more than ready to take the field. Around this time he'll start to advance on his competition and he's quite capable to move in front of another horse so long as his jockey guides him in that direction. He's prone to trying to bite into his tongue out on the track which is why he now wears a tongue tie when racing. After about a quarter through the race you'll notice that he has slowly began to surpass other horses, one stride at a time. The way he moves through the motions, it's almost in a calculating manner. He'll keep a level speed, increasing it when trying to pass up another horse. He doesn't fight for the lead as aggressively as some horses, instead he relies on just easing his way up to the front and rushing passed the pack leader towards the homestretch.
