PERSONALITY
Oh dear mother of god not ANOTHER one. What is the saying in Game of Thrones? "Madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land". You could say the staff at GM does the exact same thing every time a foal of Passion Heart hits the ground, and this one... well he was no exception to the rule. Dopey was endearingly named because he's not exactly the smartest horse GM has ever had the pleasure of training but he is probably the most ill tempered and quirky son of Passion Heart to date. Where do we even begin with Dopey... Well he's rather dramatic and what we mean by rather dramatic is that he's the drama queen of the Y19 crop. He poses for the cameras and for reporters, he loves the attention of others but also doesn't know how to cope with an outburst of affection and will bite people and pin his ears if he feels like he's being doted on too much. He can't quite seem to figure out how to act around others and he's a hot neurotic mess because of it. He's like a woman who says everything is fine when it's clearly not. Dopey enjoys strutting around but he can't do it eloquently. He's anything but elegant actually, he grunts when he struts around and it sounds absolutely terrible. Numerous vet checks cleared this colt for racing however despite the staffs genuine concerns about the colts ability to race due to the odd noses he makes. Everything HAS to be done with a grunt or Dopey isn't satisfied. He also has a nasty habit of acting out and making a scene if he feels there isn't enough attention on him, but he also will have an absolute meltdown if he feels like there is too much attention on him and there is absolutely no in between with this colt. He's just an over dramatic mother heifer. So what makes this horse so ill tempered? Well he's got a rather short fuse and it doesn't take much to tick him off. Is your shirt the wrong color today? Are you using HIS halter on someone else? Did you happen to change his saddle today? Is his saddle cloth PINK today? How DARE you be even a minute late with his breakfast. Persnickety and ill tempered are never a good combination and of course this colt or ridgling rather, is both. Dopey is odd in so many ways and it doesn't end with his personality, he also steers more towards the sprints rather than distance like his sire and dam. Odd as it is he's naturally quicker than his dam across a smaller distance and Passion Heart wasn't a slow front runner, nor was his sire Proletariat. This horse may very well be one of the fastest sprinters GM has ever encountered, but what is even odder about him is that he's just as capable of carrying that speed up to ten furlongs. Like I said, he doesn't make much sense. Due to his nasty nature towards other horses it's typically better that Dopey works alone, he's taken a few chunks out of the other horses in his crop whilest running and while in the pasture, for that reason he's kept alone almost every hour of the day. His lack of manners also has made the GM staff hold him back a year be turned out with a few of our bossiest broodmares (his dam included) to see if he'll learn to mind his comrades. Only time will tell but Dopey has started coming down some. True to Passion Heart's late bloomer genetics, trainers Steve and Aaron have decided Dopey won't be starting his career until he's 3.
LEG TYPE: FRONTRUNNER
Dopey hates the gate, he's been known to hold up workouts for up to an hour refusing to get into the starting gate. Aaron and Steve have had to get creative with this colt and his typical setup includes blinkers now which helps some with the gate issues however as most things are with this colt, it's still a work in progress. Otherwise once Dopey is loaded he'll rocket from the gates and take off at breakneck speed. He's got a high cruising speed but what makes him really dangerous is the fact that as dumb as this horse can be, Dopey has a great habit of syncing up his heart rate with his strides and can rate himself pretty well until the time comes for him to run where he'll kick it into high gear and draw off on his opponents. If you let this horse have an easy lead he'll absolutely demolish his competition and the race is lost the second the gates open.
