PIRATE'S TREASURE
Pirate was an expensive yearling purchase, but it became clear after his first few starts that he didn't have the temperament for it. He's got a screw loose, simply put, and in three consecutive starts he completely lost it, rolling into the stretch in good shape and veering hard toward the outside of the track, completely unresponsive to guidance or a whip and not caring if there were other horses in the way. He was deemed too dangerous to himself and others to continue racing, and for many years he was simply turned out to pasture. However, the current manager of Valkyrie re-discovered the stallion, and his physical prowess and raw talent that he showed in training and on the track made it worth giving him a chance at stud.
